Computers Got Smaller, So GNU/Linux Got Bigger
Looking at this month's stats for the UK, Windows has never been so weak. Its "market share" has never been this low before. This was mentioned a week ago and tomorrow we celebrate the growth of GNU/Linux in the tuxmachines.org
birthday party (here in the UK).
Linux is increasing its leads over Windows, not just because of Android but also because of "proper" GNU/Linux, not only on limited (and limiting) devices such as Steam Deck.
Many people here recognise the lack of urgency (or need) to get expensive new laptops. Sorry, Intel. Some people experiment with single-board computers, notably the local Raspberry Pi. The "5" added enough speed and RAM to fulfil most needs or all expectations the ordinary user has. Some people just need more time to recognise this, and the Microsoft trolling does not help. █
