School was weird
I have kept some of my old school books and have recently -- for reasons that might deserve their own phlog post some day -- read a bit through them again. Specifically math books.
What struck me as very odd was the style of those math books: They contain very, very little explanations. They feel more like references.

Steam Next Fest (June 2025) — Day 5
Trying the demo purely because of the weird trailer
* Very retro PC gaming vibe. SID chip music!
* Rough introduction. Big info dump right at the start before I know what I'm doing
* Music changes as you change the installed skills, which are presented as synthesizer modules
* Struggling with visibility. Hard to quickly tell what's an enemy and what's background art. Also hard to tell what's collidable and what's clear
* I'm not finding the combat here very intersting

TodoTxt in my TRMNL
I'm never really satisfied with my task and note taking systems. Always looking for new stuff.
I had my Kate-Orgmode[1] system for a long while, but I ended up disliking the Org mode syntax on the longer run, so I use Markdown. And now especially when I do all my journaling by hand to my reMarkable2[2] e-ink tablet, markdown suits me fine.

Thoughts on Gemini
Gemini is an internet protocol similar to http(s) but simpler. It is made to emulate the feel of the old internet. It’s similar to gopher if y’all remember that from way back when but with a few more features. Currently it’s still relatively niche with only a few hundred known capsules. “Capsules” are what they call websites on the gemnet. As for my experience with it, I would put it as a fun novelty but once that wears off it’s kinda lack luster. There’s no inline images so that customization is lost but I do appreciate the creativity some people get with ASCII art to compensate. I’d say it’s great for conveying information in a simpler manner but anything else tends to have less flair than on the world wide web. One more positive I’d give it is that is isn’t commercialized. There’s no seo and no adverts. For now at least, we’ll see how long before advertisers start to make pages there. I have my own capsule at gemini://gem.zooey.cc . It was fun to set up but I don’t know how much I’ll actually do with it, we’ll see.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
