GNOME Does Not Campaign Against Microsoft, KDE Does
The "KDE Community" has this new page on "KDE for Windows 10 Exiles".
"Similar campaigns should be run for Apple's forced obsolescence of x86 hardware," argues an associate, "and forced obsolescence of PPC hardware," psydroid adds.
I myself am a longtime KDE user (about 25 years) and my current KDE session has run fine, uninterrupted, since 2023:
$ uptime 03:44:34 up 617 days, 9:29, 39 users, load average: 0.32, 0.51, 0.69
It's not an anomaly. My other KDE laptops have an uptime of 239 days (up since purchase) and 551 days. Both run KDE as well. My wife use KDE and her laptop has been running without a reboot for 477 days.
With Windows this would be infeasible.
GNU/Linux is just technically better - on many levels.
Yesterday we wrote about 'Stallmanites" or "Software Freedom proponents" entering the FSF Board (or re-entering it). Remember it was KDE, not GNOME, which chose not to attack Stallman when everyone was doing it (groupthink and peer pressure).
It's good to see that KDE is still active in promotion of Free software - a term that it uses. It also promoted Free/open standards and, unlike GNOME, it's not controlled tightly by IBM and GAFAM. █
