Microsoft's Family Safety app is blocking Chrome on Windows PCs
If your PC won’t open Google Chrome, there may be a culprit: Microsoft.
Google determined that Microsoft’s Family Safety app is blocking Chrome, though the company hasn’t discovered how or why. “For some users, Chrome is unable to run when Microsoft Family Safety is enabled,” Google support engineers posted on the company’s support blog. The issues have apparently been occurring for weeks.

Microsoft is blocking Google Chrome through its family safety feature | The Verge
Earlier this month, Microsoft’s Family Safety feature, primarily used by parents and schools as a set of parental controls and filters, started randomly blocking Google’s Chrome browser from opening on Windows. The first reports surfaced on June 3rd, with some Chrome users noticing the browser kept closing or wouldn’t open.
There's a reason many people are happy that Microsoft implodes in a non-stop cycle of mass layoffs (soon 10 waves of layoffs in 2025 alone). The company is run by thugs and mobsters who hate everyone but themselves and even try to crush critics by lawyering up.
Why is Microsoft trying to block Chrome, i.e. disallow users access to what they prefer? Here:
Edge is dying. People see no need to use it, even if it's already there inside Windows. Chrome is fast approaching 70%. It's not good for the Web and it's also not good for Microsoft.
Of course Microsoft is also playing (manipulating) the regulators, trying to force them to put Chrome on the chopping block.
That's just what Microsoft, an abusive monopolist, does. █
