Meanwhile, veteran developers of GNU/Linux, who know what they talk about and value their users: "For me, Xorg works, and EasyOS has a plethora of apps that require Xorg. Also lots of apps that require gtk2, and likely they will never get upgraded to gtk3. So I intend to stay with Xorg and keep gtk2 alive also.
