GNU/Linux Reaches All-Time High in the United States of America
While "the news" spreads phony numbers for Microsoft [1, 2] (the scale of layoffs is a lot greater than what they claim) let's examine what's happening to Windows in its home country. The US government sees GNU/Linux at around 6%, statCounter says over 5% unless one adds Android.
As noted earlier, it is the same in Canada. Windows is trending down, just like Microsoft's workforce (where real staff gets replaced by temps, people on visas, overseas workers, or simply culled to be replaced by nobody at all). Nope, "slop" replaces nobody, it's just a smokescreen. Automations aren't a new thing or some "era" or "invention" or "revolution". If some company replaces a good coder with someone who uses slop for code, that does not mean "AI" replaces people, it just means cheap and unskilled workers replace "expensive" workers and the resultant work will be a lot worse. █
