Help Fund the Free Software Foundation (FSF)
In terms of productivity and in terms of traffic, 2025 has probably been our best year (since 2006), but we're more gratified to see the growing usage levels of gemini://
, which is where we'd like to see ourselves in the future, more so seeing the terrible direction the Web has taken (not even counting the LLM nuisance; the Free Software Foundation (FSF) recently wrote a couple of articles about that [1, 2]).
Several years ago the FSF's founder told me and Andy that he'd look into expanding the FSF's outreach to Geminispace, but it never happened. He acknowledged this would take a lot of extra resources, which the FSF already lacked at the time.
If you have some dollars to spare, go support the FSF. They do good work and improve their administrative composition.
The above fundraising says "by July 11", but they always extend these ambitious dates or "cutoffs". Perhaps they can reach 200 by month's end.
To her credit, Christine Hall added her voice to the FSF's support. Thanks, Christine! █
