With Workers Back From a Holiday Weekend, Microsoft Layoffs Carry on, More Waves to Come
Microsoft intentionally (date planned well in advance) chose a long weekend and a national holiday for the mass layoffs. It hoped the media would not notice major shutdowns; it attempted to make it seem like almost nothing would change.
Now it's Monday and people are bad to work, even some journalists, so they talk about these matters and what really matters, e.g.:

Microsoft makes layoffs at Turn 10
The developer of Forza Motorsport, Turn 10, has been affected by the massive layoffs going on at Microsoft.
The Verge reports that over 70 members of staff have been let go from the studio. This news was broken to workers in a call with human resources reps from Microsoft and are seemingly hitting the "vast majority" of Turn 10.
Apparently there's enough staff left to maintain Forza Motorsport.
Microsoft has cut its workforce by four per cent, or roughly 9,000 members of staff. News of how this is impacting the company's Xbox division is dripping out slowly and often unofficially.
So far we know that the Big M has cancelled several projects, including Perfect Dark, Everwild and an unannounced MMO from ZeniMax Online Studios codenamed Blackbird. We also know that Microsoft has closed its Santa Monica studio, The Initiative.

Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport developer hit hard by Xbox cuts
Microsoft announced layoffs today affecting as many as 9,000 employees, and as part of the changes, more than 70 people will be let go at Forza Motorsport developer Turn 10 Studios, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The cuts were made on a call with Microsoft HR representatives this morning, and are hitting the “vast majority” of the studio. One source described the layoffs as leaving enough people behind to keep Forza Motorsport up and running.

"It's Heartbreaking" - The Pokémon Company Tech VP Joins Industry In Criticising Microsoft Layoffs
Last week's layoffs at Microsoft and Xbox Games were shocking to say the least, with over 9,000 people losing their jobs, including veterans at Rare, Romero Games, and the cancellation of big projects such as Perfect Dark. This comes despite the fact that the tech giant reportedly made $26 billion in the last quarter.

Xbox is being set up to fail by Microsoft bosses, claims insider
As the fallout from Xbox’s brutal job cuts continues, more layoffs seem inevitable as Microsoft execs set targets that are going to be almost impossible to meet.
"I heard of three lawyers" (who got laid off), said someone this morning, "so not limited to tech and games. Finance got hit too but not too bad." Impacted units were also discussed here ("heard unified csam gone overnight in some regions").
People already speak of another round of mass layoffs next month. 20 minutes ago somebody wrote: "I believe that. August is when people find out what their rewards are after spring Connect review period, and September is when it gets implemented/paid (bonuses, raises, stock)." █
