You Need Not Wave a Rainbow Flag This Month to Basically Oppose Arseholes Looking to Disrupt and Divide the Community
I'm not in social control media (I quit all of it 3.5 years ago), but I sometimes still see very nasty comments in there, especially when searching the Web or following links or reading blog comments (if any still exist outside the walled gardens of social control media).
It should not matter whether you're gay or support gay marriage or even have no stance on the matter. Some of the rhetoric I've seen online is objectionable. Some of it is so downright disgusting and there are hate preachers trying to normalise such discourse. It's not just one Microsoft-linked person; I saw several.
As explained earlier, being a corporate shill isn't a "gay thing" and on average the distribution is not correlated to any "flag" or whatever. Bad people promote bad agenda. Good people promote good things. There are good women, also bad women. There are nice gays, some are not as nice. To generalise would be wrong and unfair.
This "us versus them" thing should be GNU/Linux vs Windows (or Microsoft), but Microsofters try to divide the community of GNU/Linux along political spectra. Hardly a coincidence. The Halloween Documents, which came from Microsoft, explained very specifically that such tactics should be used. They attempt to create a rift based on superficial differences (like reciprocal and non-reciprocal licences in the GNU spheres and BSD spheres).
Don't fall for it. If you see it, walk away. Don't participate. █
