Two Weeks Passed Since Latest Large Wave of Microsoft Layoffs, More Expected Next Month
August starts just over 2 weeks from now. After Microsoft laid off about 29,000 workers (by our estimate, a running tally) in 6 months of 2025 it's expected there's more to come in August.
Some remaining staff is correct to assume [1,2] it didn't dodge the bullet. There's a lot more on the way.

The way things are going, Microsoft's debt is so huge that it is lying about "investment" in "AI" (while firing "AI" workers) and eventually there will be nothing left of this company. Blaming the debt on "AI" is just self-serving storytelling. Tell the same lie a million times; maybe it'll stick in people's mind, owing in part to docile media and slopfarms.
This week we learned from a young colleague that he was using GNU/Linux (he's not working in tech). It turns out many young people already grow up without Windows at all. Many shops around here run GNU/Linux (e.g. OpenSUSE) at the back end. █
