Slopfarms Are Going to Perish Because Public Opinion is Changing
Improved awareness and LLM curbs
I've just checked BetaNews again. There are 3 writers there - actual, real people! - who publish many things. The site's experiment with LLM slop is demonstrably over. They tried it and it was a total disaster. Damage was done to the site's reputation. Now they try to recover.
There are still slopfarms out there. Yesterday, for instance, I saw many fake 'articles' in this site:
All of them are fake.
The site's reachability fell off a cliff and it's hard to believe any human (actual person) reads it. In the past we habitually saw the site mentioned in other sites, but that does not happen anymore. The site got a reputation of being fake, a slopfarm.
Many slopfarms will simply go offline at the end or, as we explained yesterday, the tools they rely on will go offline as they lack a business model. They're not sustainable and more sites try to block LLM crawlers. █
