EPO Jobs Are Very Toxic and Bad for One's Health
Health first, not monopolies
Over the past 10+ years I routinely spoke to EPO staff and former staff. Some tell me a lot about their medical conditions; some blame the EPO for these conditions. I won't name any conditions as that can give away hints about who speaks to me.
Some of the conditions caused by the EPO were explained in the Benoît Battistelli era, e.g. Upper Limb Disorder (ULD) [1, 2].
Imagine what it feels like to work not only 8 hours but even overtime with persistent pain in limbs that cannot be properly rested. Over time it worsens, swells up, and can become a permanent disability. Congrats! You got some EPO salaries. Now, good luck dealing with survival the rest of your life... was it worth it? Do you think society will value your EPO work? Did granting lots of monopolies (mostly to non-European large corporations) make the world a better place?
Many EPO workers don't even ask themselves those questions (not in those term anyway) until after they leave the Office. They were too "caught up" in the "rat race". The same can be said about many other jobs, not even remotely related to patent examination or administration. Many occupations are like microcosms or bubbles.
There's no doubt António Campinos is just another super-corrupt official. Don't destroy your life and your body (the only body you'll ever have) for this corrupt maniac. Moreover, do your best to obstruct European software patents. What keeps Campinos in Office is the lie that patent grants "grow" (or "demand" rises) when in fact he's just granting loads of illegal patents to show money that's never meant to be raised because of the economic harms (to Europe) those patents will cause for ~2 decades to come.
Look after your family. Look after the spouse. Invest in the kids. About Campinos, as they say in the street... "f--k this guy!" (he already uses the F word a lot to express his relationship with the Office). █
