Russia Set to Ban Facebook?

Facebook is one tentacle of several; many people are not aware that Instagram and WhatsApp are part of Facebook, which merely tried to rebrand after epic scandals that poisoned the "Facebook" brand. Meduza had a couple of reports yesterday about WhatsApp facing the cull in Russia with almost 100% chance it'll happen as it should "prepare to leave" the country. If WhatsApp is made to "leave", that means Facebook or "Meta". Microsoft's bankruptcy in Russia is still fresh.

Looking at statCounter analytics, Facebook does not have considerable share in the Russian Federation or in China (more restrictions there already, long in place), unlike say in the US and the UK.

GAFAM is losing its foothold. No wonder GAFAM companies have so many layoffs all the time (AWS again last week). They cannot be bailed out by taxpayers forever. The bailout spigots will get shut. The US dollar as a global currency lost a lot of its perceived value. █
