The Free Software Foundation (FSF) Has a New Slogan for Its 40th Anniversary
New phase, new look:
Alexandre Oliva's "slogan" has become a leading highlight in the FSF's site, which finally ended the summer fund-rising campaign with less than 40 members short of the target (maybe thirty something short, based on our last inspection). Mr. Oliva, soon to be officially back in the Board (unless something unexpected happens), suggested:
4 decades 4 freedoms 4 all users
The freedoms are what's most important, as RMS (FSF founder) and Mr. Oliva know best. Let's generalise a bit; people who only appreciate not being controlled by Apple or Microsoft typically say or speak of "Linux". People who understand why it's important (other than mere brands) say "GNU" or "GNU/Linux", depending on the context. They follow the FSF, not the Linux Foundation, which works for Bill Epsteingate and all sorts of proprietary, predatory software giants. █
New and obviously fake: (there are many RMS fakes by now)
