Microsoft Turns News Sites Into Spamfarms
Is the site The Register MS the next IDG?
Lately we've repeatedly pointed out - mostly in IRC - that a lot of former news sites sucked; they had changed. There are too many sites that lately had "sales" and "deals" with paid Microsoft placements in them. They were trying to falsely market things like "Lifetime Licenses" (no such thing! Those things won't exist as long as one lives!) while Microsoft lays off tens of thousands of workers. In IDG, as of moments ago, there's one fake article entitled "A Microsoft Office Lifetime License is now half the price of a single year paying for Microsoft 365" (link omitted) as it became a growing/vast proportion of what this former news network is publishing. They basically turned their sites into spamfarms after they were sold to a Chinese entity.
"Microsoft remains really desperate to distract from open formats and the packages which benefit from them and free people from lock-in," an associate pointed out, dubbing this a perennial topic and one that we covered many times before (that got a lot worse last year).
Now we observe more or less the same trajectory in The Register MS (Microsoft). Consider what it looks like right now. It's like Microsoft is at the centre of the universe and its brands are constantly mentioned. We don't consider this to be a coincidence. █
