    listening to someone play a rose quartz singing bowl this morning -- it's a nice way to wake up although it's interpreted through an evil streamer (spotify). if i lived alone, I'd just start collecting singing bowls, rollout of bed, and play them for a bit before starting my day. I read this story about david geffen's spicy divorce, which was partially about how he met his ex on seeking. for context, david geffen was one of the wealthiest and perhaps most overtly abusive guys in the music industry. the fact that he used seeking was kind of astonishing to me. i tried to use it before in the converse situation, but always chickened out. but i think as I near having to pay a towering amount of debt, it seems tempting to try again. mostly i'd like to find someone whose fetish is treating me like a high-end therapist and then paying me like a high-end therapis† who doesn't take insurance. he'd just tell me his ails over zoom & i'd be like, "how does that make you feel?"... my last therapist seemed to get off on talking to me & then I soft ghosted him after he said, "I think next time we should talk about OUR relationship." nobody thought this was funny except me. there's a lot more to say about that but i'll keep it offline.

    Trofim Lysenko was a guy many years ago with very wrong-headed ideas on how nature worked; would’ve been fine if he had done smaller trial runs but unfortunately he had the ear of the men in power and created mass starvation and ecological disaster.

    I was talking to someone the other week who was a staunch believer in capitalism to the point that rather than see any change, any regulation of fossil fuels, he said “I’d rather take my chances with climate change”. Few things are so harrowing and distressing to me as people understimating the problem. I know that people getting overwhelmed by hopelessness is a real phenomenom but I run in to way more often people who have the opposite problem; they don't see how serious and * the stakes are.
