Google Throwing Out the Search Engine With the Bathwater is a Complete and Utter 'Shi---ow' as the Company Drowns in Debt, Layoffs, and Worse
The mainstream media almost never mentions GAFAM debt, but Google's debt jumped by over 13 billion dollars in just 3 months (Microsoft's debt jumped by 7.2 billion dollars in the same 3-month period)
In recent days many sites, including ours/us, commented on what Google had done and is still doing to its search business, which is about selling ads. Aside from the guaranteed libel lawsuits against Google there will be copyright lawsuits (or out-of-court settlements framed/marketed to the public as "agreements" or "deals" with large publishers). Then there's a loss of trust in Google as a brand. The lack of trust isn't a new thing, but it'll worsen.
One thing to bear in mind each time there's a round of layoffs at Google (there are plenty; every GAFAM company has these, Microsoft is worse off than the rest) is the debt. Google not only has "growing pains"; there are also antitrust worries/fines, which aren't limited to the EU. There's also regulation, e.g. Australia restricting young people's access to YouTube, which is a losing business whose operational costs climb over time (hence the many ads being added on top of not just videos but also sidebars).
GAFAM cannot forever rely on Wall Street rigging (gifting other people's money as "investment"), bailouts (government contracts), and patience. Most of what Google does is not profitable. █
