Slopwatch: The Issue Persists, But the Consensus in the Media Changes as Google Enrages It With LLM Plagiarism
Google is under fire right now. In recent days we saw lots of negative press due to Google promoting slop at the expense of search, more so in the UK. Put in simple terms, Google wants people to only use Google for information. It does not want people to visit any other site, including sites that are scraped by Google and misrepresented under the guise of "hey hi" (AI).
We've meanwhile assessed the latest output from Linuxiac. It saddens us to see that slop is still used to make some of the 'articles', e.g. (from yesterday):
And also:
For the time being we consider Linuxiac untrustworthy not because all articles are fake but some are (or partially are). We are still hoping that the editor of Linuxiac will change his mind on this.
Meanwhile in LinuxSecurity, it's Linux "FUD season".
Windows problems are "Linux":
SAP problems are "Linux" as well:
We already rebutted those things, but slopfarms don't care about what's true, they lack a notion or concept of truth.
We also see some slopfarm propped up by Google News some hours ago:
Fake image, fake text, even fake author. But hey, don't expect Google to recognise that slop is a problem. Failing to find growth areas, Google is now trying to see whose traffic it can 'steal', e.g. by borrowing text and presenting it in LLM slop form (to make it only seem original). █
