Why We Also Include Gopher Links in Our Gemini (Protocol) Links
Some Gemini clients can also handle Gopher. That's because, in some superficially-satisfying sense, they are overlapping. On some level, Gemini (Protocol) is Gopher with encryption and richer syntax. They're not really the same specs (specifications), but many of the concepts are the same. Moreover, many who have a Gemini capsule also have "gopherholes", including the founder of Gemini (Protocol), who had prior to it only used Gopher and then wanted more features.
There are still many people who use Gopher to relay their messages (like blog posts). They're mostly technical people. █
