The "End Software Patents" Initiative of the FSF Explains "WHY [to] ABOLISH SOFTWARE PATENTS"
Older: Professor Eben Moglen: In 1991 Richard Stallman Thought GNU/Linux Was Doomed Due to Software Patents
Unlike the Microsoft-controlled Linux Foundation and Microsoft-controlled OSI, the FSF talks about the problems with software patents. The OIN is the mouthpiece of proponents of such patents.
From the front page of the FSF's Web site:
The FSF has not written much about patents in recent years; that's not because the FSF doesn't recognise the issue, it's more likely due to limited resources. Their campaign site looks like this:
It is basically a patched WordPress 5.8.11 site and the wiki section, which has not been updated for a long time (the blog was last active almost a year ago, with only one blog post in over 2 years; Panos Alevropoulos was active in 2023, except in the wiki and design*).
We hope to cover patent-related issues more and more as the big anniversary of the FSF approaches. We've written extensively about patents since this site started in 2006. We know the subject reasonably well. █
