Slopfarms Already Peaked, They Will Die When Slop Companies Run Out of Money to Borrow
The companies that "make" (rip off) so-called "hey hi" images and text are 'mooching' or living off of investors, which sometimes include banks, i.e. classic lenders. Without them, there is no way the sloppers can continue to deliver anything. In case it's not obvious, not only scraping the Web takes a lot of energy (or money), prompting and generation may take a lot more energy than scraping and training, so even if they persist with the same old (no longer rebuilt) models, producing "new" (faked, ripped off) images and text will cost a ton of money, something as a function of number of users and size of the data set (if the former is very large, then generation costs can by far exceed the latter's). Not many people will be willing to pay for it, plus there are lawsuits on top of that, set aside fake "deals" which are actually out-of-court settlements (over copyrights) in nicer "clothing", agreed upon in advance by both parties.
We still find a lot of legitimate articles about GNU/Linux and many sites will outlast this slop madness. Based on media coverage, we'll soon see a lot of so-called "AI" companies going of business, which also means out of service. Without them, slopfarms will lack an actual "engine"; they have nothing to offer once their "catalogue" (of slop) ages. █
