The Relationship Between IBM Red Hat and Microsoft, Visualised

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Sep 24, 2025

In a meme: (psydruid calls it "Red Microhat")

Tug of War - on christian nationalism: Community, Coders vs Red Hat, Microsoft

This morning we published "More Microsoft-Red Hat Cross-Pollination as the Company Loses a Managing Director" and somebody told us: "The insect theme is correct, but I would disagree with a positive metaphor like pollination."

"Instead," he explained, "I would say Microsoft infecting other companies is like when parasitic wasps use their ovipositors to inject eggs into their victim's flesh."

We've turned the famous meme into something else using annotation.

Likewise, consider this metaphor:

Egg-counting lets parasitic wasps know if a host is 'taken'

This metaphor goes a long way (projects, collaborations, and outsourcing).
