Datamation, Where I Used to Publish Articles, Appears to Have Been Sold to TechnologyAdvice Only to Become a Slopfarm
That Datamation and other domains/sites formerly owned by Jupitermedia got sold to TechnologyAdvice is not speculation but a fact.
In today's Datamation, the "About us" link goes nowhere and it says "Property of TechnologyAdvice. © 2025 TechnologyAdvice. All Rights Reserved" (it also says "Datamation is the leading industry resource for B2B data professionals and technology buyers.")
The B2B theme is disturbing; B2B is a fancy and modern name for what's typically spam or sponsored "plants" (sometimes known as "plugs").
Lately the site's RSS feed became a lot more active again. On the surface it seemed OK, but over time it started to feel like nobody actually wrote those pieces. Now consider the images:
If you cannot be bothered to add a real image, why bother with text?
Indeed, "Datamation Staff" seems to be slopbots (maybe mildly modified by a human editor with "hey hi skills"):
Yes, that's right:
I used to write in that site almost 20 years ago when they had real writers with real names. I'd prefer to not associate with that site anymore. █
