Anesthesia (CW: Medical Procedure Discussion)
It has been 23 years since I've had a procedure that required general anesthesia. A lot of improvements have been made in that area apparently. When I came to in recovery, I felt nearly lucid and was able to coherently respond to the nurse's questions coherently. The only discomfort was from pain in the operative area and not that general feeling of being run over by a freight train.
This of course piqued my curiosity, and when the pre-op nurse came back to check on me I say "Weird question: But can I speak to an anesthesiologist? I want to sate my curiosity."

Our hard-earned dystopia
People hated meetings and phone calls and even answering machines so our current world of short text messages is one we strived for years in order to finally build.
People hated reading books, too, that was for eggheads and nerds. So boring. And even watching TV was boring. Even after they made 500 channels the meme was “500 channels and nothing good on”. So today’s world of tailor-made, algorithmic For You pages is a godsend by our corporate overlords.
We have finally built the perfect life and I hate it.

sweet sweat
Writing twice in two days, I guess I'm coming back to the surface or reality.
Feeling better after a good sweat, some fighting. I want to do more sparing. I even cooked for myself tonight. It's been a while.
I'll probably waste the rest of the night in front of a screen. But I feel the desire to change something. I haven't smoked tobacco in a couple weeks, haven't had a drink in 5 days, no drugs either. Still drinking coffee though. Planing to drop some acid tomorrow, but that always feels good, or at least healing. Not sure if I'm just doing 1/8th micro dose, or 1/4 with a bit more punch. I feel my emotions might be ready to unload.

reframing Baudpunk
I stand by that and I think it's still fun to use in that sense but lately I've been knocking the name around in my head as a kind of operating model, giving name to something I was already doing.
this is what I imagine as the framework of Baudpunk should be;
firstly it's an attitude that no tech is obsolete, things can always be repurposed, reused or maybe useful later. what sets Baudpunk apart from a collector is in the use of these old pieces of hardware or software, they aren't trophies or props, they're working pieces of history, be it doing their original task or repurposed to some other job. older computers are low powered but they're also solid workhorses and, often, are just waste or trash if you aren't using them.
which brings me to my second point; e-waste is a misnomer for "old stuff" - if it works it's not waste, it's just not useful to you, it could be useful to you later or useful to someone else. the term e-waste should primarily be used for things that need proper handling or destruction, for example pillowing Li-ion batteries, leaking capacitors or other things that pose a risk just by existing. everything else is just gear or kit, resources.
