For Some, the GNU Web Site is Not Accessible This Week
They seem to have gone into some kind of lock-down mode
The GNU Web site is down at the moment. Not just for me. For some, it is accessible. It was also down many hours ago. It has been slow in recent days, sometimes agonisingly slow. Sometimes not reachable at all. It is not a new problem.
It would be nice to believe or simply assume it's down due to popular demand (end of Vista 10), but it is most likely due to LLM bots. I've asked some contact at the FSF about it, but no response has been received yet.
When people exit Microsoft there's a window of opportunity - a chance to tell them why Windows "sucks" (and not just due to cost). So it's a shame that GNU.org cannot deliver pages to many people, including many unique resources about software philosophy.
Web turbulence predates LLMs; the Web is a mess and the solution to this mess isn't more JavaScript and more access restrictions. █
