Yes, many people that are laid off by Microsoft claim to be specialists in "AI" (they don't mean AI, they typically allude to nonsense that's unrelated to anything beneficial or intelligent).
Today there are reports that Facebook "Meta" with its "superintelligence" is going the way of dodo metaverse [1,2].
Buzzwords, hype, passing fads... it's time to move on.
