Corruption is a Reality, It's Not a Dirty or a Strong Word
"Corruption is everywhere," some people tell me. Some of them are openly dismissive of the idea of tackling or talking about corruption because, according to them, it is 1) rampant; 2) inevitable, so not much can be done about it.
This is a form of defeatism or an extension of efforts by "the elites" to downplay the matter. There are coordinated efforts to insinuate that because something happens a lot, then it's futile or pointless to even talk about it.
This site has long been focused on exposing corruption, especially high-level corruption, i.e. corruption that impacts many people and merits publicly-available (sans paywalls) commentary.
Corruption is prevalent, it's not easy to eradicate entirely (nepotism, for instance, is considered a 'soft' form of corruption), but that does not mean we can - or should - trivialise and/or ignore the matter.
Corruption is a topic some newspapers shy away from, at least for fear of SLAPPs. But since many people do care and wish to know about corruption, such media would gradually perish. People don't wish to see puff pieces and paid-for "happy stories" (marketing) when the world around them seems to disappoint, rife with wars, poverty, hunger, and national leaders who grope women and joke about rape. █
