German Media and German Politicians: Working for the Public or Manipulating the Public?
The German media, in my personal experience, as in my direct experience* (not based on stigma or hearsay), is gaslighting the public. So do German politicians. I spoke to some and they mostly seem to care about rich people's interests, perhaps because they're affiliated with political parties that "party hard" with rich people. They front for corporations and for institutions meant to guard their interests (e.g. the EPO).
Tomorrow we'll give another new example of large German media that seems to be covering up for the EPO. We already commented on that earlier in the month [1, 2] and years ago we commented about it in relation to the UPC. See, Germany violating its own constitution and breaking laws isn't a problem if the "right" people do that**.
The "Bezos issue" or "Gates issue" is not a uniquely American spectacle, even if Anglophone media focuses on the UK, US, Australia (Murdoch) and so on.
This is Germany:
It is a family-controlled company, Friede Springer and CEO Mathias Döpfner own it. "As of April 2025, Mathias Döpfner, together with Friede Springer, holds 95% of the shares of Axel Springer," Wikipedia says, citing the company's own statements. With billions in revenue each year, it's hard to believe these men care about what the "common person" cares about.
And it's not just Axel Springer, which also controls a lot of scientific literature and acts as a gatekeeper. The makeup of "elite media" isn't a new problem or a novel concept. It has long been an issue of significant public concern. The "common person" does not have printing presses. █
