After Denial (of the Issues) Comes Censorship
Dictators do not tolerate critics. Watch what the British media gets subjected to this month. By Americans [1, 2].
IBM keeps pretending that everything is under control even when so many are laid off (RAed). Microsoft tells the media that it's hiring aggressively "for AI", even when in reality so far in 2025 it has already laid off - by our count - over 30,000 workers, including some who claim to specialise in "AI" (contradicting whatever Microsoft keeps saying).
At IBM, it seems like from trailblazer the company turns into a master of plunder and extraction. By defrauding the shareholders and lying to everybody (using the language of buzzwords and "creative" accounting)...
As somebody put it an hours ago: "Why caring about business continuity?? Talented Ppl get RAed, and the work is dumped into their (long time) teammates, while the ppl in India (mostly poorly trained and with less skills) do mostly less critical/complex tasks. Our attitude of rallying to keep the lights ON, is what makes the incompetent leadership think that their all India strategy is working. It is time to let the products crash and burn, so they understand the consequences of their decisions."
"Well," said another so-called "Dinobaby" around the same time, "at 60 I don’t get to choose which dept hire me. I have seen my picky coworkers collect unemployment and remain jobless so I’m just grateful I found something that will last few more years. Kudos that you are doing better than us."
Some are reporting censorship of particular issues at IBM:
See, criticising the decisions of the management (or the management itself) is now deemed racist. Mentioning what McKinsey/Microsoft does inside Red Hat is probably also racist.
Every critic of the status quo is "racist" and every criticism is "racism". Oh, how those companies love that narrative! █
