Google News is Promoting Fake News About Linux and Proton Today

Early this morning I added a couple of LWN picks regarding Linux 6.18-rc7 (the RCs typically come out every weekend on Sunday night Portland time, except on weekends that involve final releases and one week after stable releases).

Then I saw Google News promoting slopfarms:

Noticing the similarity? Those two slopfarms are run by the same person/people and are generated by the same slop image generator and same LLM.

Those are not real articles, they're slop "with indifference to the truth".

Google News is also propelling this slop piece to the top right now:

The slop image is irrelevant and the text is all fake. Can't Google do better than this? █
