The End of the Road for Many at IBM (and Red Hat, Kyndryl Etc.)
IBM's lying, deceitful, uninspiring and utterly shallow CEO is trying to pretend everything is under control despite the ship sinking and the business metaphorically drowning. Some of the most veteran (experienced) staff gets the boot and some are abused on the way out, as IBM prefers to cause them to "resign" for this way there's no need - no legal obligation at least - to compensate them (severance).
To quote a message from 1 hour ago by an anonymous commenter: "Hard to work for a place with fear of layoffs always present. I feel for families and even younger people who have young children. Even the RTO policy is hard on families. IBM requiring employees to uproot their lives and move their children to the big city is heartless. I guess people should take note of employers doing this and avoid working for these companies. They have little regard for the family."
2 days ago we wrote about culls at Kyndryl (basically a part of IBM, but schizophrenic about it) and this happened only a few hours ago:
Remember that IBM is fast losing its grip on GNU/Linux because those layoffs or RAs or "last days" impact Red Hat as well. Community-run distros can take advantage of this. █
