IBM May be Breaking the Law to Silence Staff It Laid Off
Observation to add regarding IBM layoffs
Two days ago we published "IBM: We Pay You to be Obedient or Deny You What You're Entitled to If You Don't Act Obediently" (after we had mentioned the NDAs [1-3])
A reader has since then pointed out that "[c]ompanies can't enforce silence for severance pay, Labor Board rules".
"In short," said this reader, "non-disparagement clauses are a violation of basic rights, as I have long pointed out."
Who's going to take IBM to court over this? Maybe class action from the "last day" club? People who take to social control media, announcing they are grateful and express gratitude for mass layoffs that impact them? █
________
- IBM Forces Staff to Sign an NDA If They Want Severance Package, in Effect Bribing Them or Denying Them Money They're Entitled to If They 'Disparage' IBM
- IBM Layoffs: It's Like They Read From a Script, Like They've Signed a Non-Disparagement Agreement/Clause
- Microsoft's Non-Disparagement Agreements/Clauses: Can't See, Hear, or Speak
