Google News Still Has an LLM Slop Problem (With Slop Images Too), But Google Itself is a Pusher of Slop
It's not hard to understand why Google - including Google News - does not take the slop problem seriously. What started as "Bard" (later renamed "Gemini") was a disaster, but Google wants to tell lies and sell lies to shareholders. They use words like "superintelligence" when they refer to dumb (but very large) models of proximity between words (tokens) without any actual comprehension of how those words relate to one another or the meaning/s conveyed by them.
Google News still has some LLM slop in it. Search Google News for "linux" today and you'll see the slopfarm WebProNews:
Another or one other slopfarm (this one too, just like the above, uses slop images):
Thankfully all the slop we can find is in Google News; our RSS feeds have netted no slop since we said we'd can "Slopwatch" (due to a dramatic decrease in slop).
If Google keeps shilling and selling slop as "AI", and moreover if people keep hating slop (there's growing awareness of this problem), then at the end Google will suffer greatly. █
