The team at Unified IP Services used Pearl to successfully identify and chart prior art against U.S. Patent 9,280,689, owned by Wolverine Barcode IP, LLC, an NPE and entity of Pueblo Nuevo LLC. The patent monopoly generally relates to mobile apps interacting with QR codes.

The dispute began at the ITMA textile and garment technology trade fair in Rho, near Milan, in June 2023. Bhagat and Oerlikon compete in the market for texturing and winding machines. The case concerns EP 2 145 848, which protects a false twist texturing machine. Patent holder Oerlikon received the patent monopoly in autumn 2011.
