'Linux' Foundation: The Foundation Has Almost Nothing to Do With Linux, It Just Misuses the Name "Linux"
Only a tiny portion of the Foundation's budget actually goes to Linux
Last week: To Linus Torvalds, the Microsoft Linux Foundation is Increasingly a Liability and Risk to the Brand
'Linux' Foundation isn't Linux, it is not even committed to Linux:
Imagine having something called the GNU Foundation devoted to promoting 'crypto' 'currency' or the FSF (which is a real thing) becoming an ally of Bill Epsteingate.
How would people react? What would that do to the brand?
The so-called Linux Foundation is selling the soul and the brand "Linux" to many charlatans, frauds, and dodgy companies.
Does Torvalds recognise the risk of brand 'dilution'?
Right now his main project, Linux, only receives about 2% of the budget of this thing called "Linux"... "Foundation".
That does not serve him much anymore, does it? It's just exploiting him for his brand. OSDL existed to pay his salary, but right now Torvalds' salary is about 0.4% of what the Foundation gets. The rest goes to people who don't even use Linux. █
