Next Year Will be the Year of Quantum, Just Like 2020, 2015, 2010, 2005 and So On
"Quantum is a kind of rad sounding name and everyone wants to throw stuff at it, because it sounds kind of futuristic, but also maybe possible. And I don't know, I don't even know how useful it I don't even know how useful it's going to be... it does just feel like here one of these kind of frontier technologies that is just around the corner. But it just doesn't feel very real." The 2025 that didn't happen (published earlier today)
Let's celebrate with the cherished circus clown, the "Quantum" poster child AK:
[2020]
[2021]
[2022]
[2023]
[2024]
[2025]
And now IBM speaks of "Quantum" products it expects to be "ready" in 2029 or in 2030 (how many workers will IBM have left by then?)
"Quantum" is the future.
IBM said so.
IBM's CEO, with zero experience in "Quantum" anything, has declared that the future is "Quantum Computing".
Don't ask him technical questions, it's well outside his ballpark.
Anyway, I've long found "Quantum" hype amusing. 25+ years ago in University they explained to us "Quantum" was imminent or progressing or... well, I am still waiting. █
