IBM Was Never Saved, It Has Been a Downhill Journey for Decades Already

Still losing traction:
Hagiographies still trying to posthumously paint Gerstner as a misunderstood, under-appreciated hero worthy of gratitude:
Less than a day ago a Vice President at Red Hat (Thomas Anderson, Vice President, North America Services) said that he was leaving. He said that about a day after Gerstner had died and roughly 2 days before the end of the year. He started at Red Hat in January 2013, which means he spent about 13 years at Red Hat. The time of his decision to leave coincides with the latest big wave of RAs.
If Gerstner really saved IBM, then how come IBM is still doing so poorly? Why does IBM rely on bribery and brown-nosing?
It's not possible that Gerstner "saved" IBM if the company is still so deep in debt and trying to find HR tricks to lay off workers without paying them.
This whole narrative of "saving" IBM is misconceived; firing 35,000 people isn't "saving" anything except perhaps shareholders' money. Gerstner wasn't a tech person but a fiscal butcher. █
