Why IBM Workers Like Techrights (Same Reason EPO Workers Do)
IBM today is profoundly different from the company it was over a century ago
Bosses Lie. Bosses Lie All the Time! More so when times can be described as tough/rough. That toughness and roughness is how they justify/excuse the lies to themselves (if not to others, too).
Who has not experienced this?
Alright. But this article is not about office politics, which everybody experienced at some point (especially in failing IT companies). Even outside an actual office such politics exist.
The EPO has a staff union, so lies from António Campinos are constantly being challenged even when the challengers get challenged by threats or using blackmail tactics (we too are being blackmailed sometimes, unsuccessfully though).
In the case of IBM, like the EPO, there's almost no sincere press coverage left. Some of it is paid-for lies. Some just parrots whatever official statements the cokehead at the Office issues.
At some point, especially in morbid institutions, people just quit believing anything that management claims and there's a lack of trust. We've been seeing more and more of this at Microsoft in recent years, as the atmosphere got worse with all the layoffs. The same can be said about Google, Facebook, Apple, and Amazon. GAFAM loses its credibility; even the workers look for alternative explanation of things (for example, are the layoffs driven by massive debt/accounting issues or by "AI" - whatever they even mean by that?).
GAFAM's media strategy in a nutshell: of course we'll slander and demonise real journalists who expose true facts about us while congratulating and actively working with paedophiles acting as "journalists". True story. Way to discredit oneself. Anyway, as long as whistleblowers exist or anonymous voices can be aired online a potential exists for discovering suppressed facts and obtaining embarrassing documents. Our EPO series will go on and on for a long time to come. IBM will likely be a daily theme (high rate of recurrence). We recently saw that we truly irritate the managers there. █
