LLM Slop Isn't Replacing Online News, It's Just a Pest That's Gradually Going Away as Money for Slop Runs Out
Having just mentioned fake articles or slop about Torvalds (because he said the Beetlejuice word, "AI"), that's just typical slop about slop. Slopfarms tend to focus on boosting/shilling/advocating slop, so any time some executive says "AI" they're likely to parrot that executive ad infinitum. That's just the modus operandi. State-operated troll farms are the same. They amplify garbage to warp online discourse.
Outside this niche that is slop (experimental, loss-making cargo cult or religion) there's not much LLM slop that we can see or find anymore. For a couple of days now we've hardly seen any slop about Linux. As we hoped if not expected, in 2026 the slop "movement" is running out of steam. Similar observations were made hours ago in the sister site.
This is the slopfarm of the Serial Slopper, who got sacked by BetaNews for his slop:
Slop likes to talk about itself (like some kind of 'web-cancer'); if you want to avoid it, then stop talking about it or lower interest/fascination with it. Like Mr. Doctorow said 3 years ago: "Every business plan has the word “AI” in it, even if the business itself has no AI in it. Even as two major, terrifying wars rage around the world, every newspaper has an above-the-fold AI headline and half the stories on Google News as I write this are about AI. I’ve had to make rule for my events: The first person to mention AI owes everyone else a drink." █
