Recent Layoffs at Red Hat (2026 the Year of Ultimate Bluewashing)
Around the same time we heard Red Hat 'silent layoffs' were about to happen:

One week from now the person who started GNU/Linux and the FSF will give a talk at the Georgia Institute of Technology. That will be his first talk in a US college since 2018.
In Atlanta, Georgia, IBM Red Hat is having a marketing event in which it's reselling Microsoft products [1, 2] and stupid slop (latest examples).
Bluewashing was taken up another notch this year. Many remaining Red Hat staff became IBM staff, aside from the RTO and PIPs and all those other ways of driving out workers.
On the second Monday of 2026 (first one is too early) we understand that some people received bad news in private or in "meetings".
I found it amusing that Red Hat's CEO has just chosen to wear all blue, as if to make a point. What message does that send?
Many Red Hatters strongly dislike IBM. Two such people told me so directly just this past week. █
