Microsoft's XBox is in Effect Dead Already, Now It's a Streaming and Advertising Platform
They are just reusing the brand to salvage its alleged worth (which decreases with backlash)
When you hear "XBox" you probably still think of a console. But that's not what Microsoft calls the "XBox" anymore. The consoles failed really badly, Microsoft loses a lot of money on them, it's getting hard to find these in shops, so now "XBox" is just some brand they slap on Taiwanese handhelds, "XBox" is some "gaming" network, and in an effort to raise money (profits, not losses as usual) Microsoft will infuse ads into your gaming "experience".
Suffice to say, many gamers are already furious about this. Way to kill the "XBox" brand some more. Expect many layoffs soon.
Microsoft is very deep in debt and in a couple of weeks we'll know just how much worse this liability has become in spite of about 31,000 layoffs last year. █
