Am I Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll?
Absolutely not, even though I feel like it. A great man (Lemmy) once said "If you think you're tool old to rock 'n' roll, you are."
There's life in me yet.
I'm in my 50s now and, a few days ago, I decided to go into the pit for both 200 Stab Wounds and Corpse Pile. This may have been an error, but sometimes the errors in life are the fun parts.

Forest Monk
I wonder what would be like, a person who lived far away in the past, devoted to Yoga or Buddhism, while living in a Forest.
Maybe this person had very few tools. Of course, or had no tools whatsoever.

Aurora Observation
Yesterday evening (2026-01-20) I had to do a trash run. When I got back to the yard — I believe it was about 8:30pm AKST — I was treated to a beautiful Aurora. It was one long ribbon stretching from east to west, somewhere around 70 degrees above the southern horizon, to give a very rough guess. The ribbon was thick and active, with large waves or undulations of the ribbon visible, each one quickly passing from east to west. The ribbon was mostly green, but with yellow (pale green?) here and there, as well as fringes of red frequently appearing.
I brought the wife and kids out, and we all got to enjoy the show for about 10 minutes, before the kids got too cold — they had already put their pajamas on. I really wanted to keep watching the Aurora, and tried to sneak back out, but was quickly dragged back in to help with putting the kids to bed, and other evening chores.

Slide Rules and Ratios
An interesting way to work with slide rules is to think in terms of ratios, where the scale on one ruler is one side of the ratio or fraction, and the scale on the other rule is the other side of the ratio. You can, say, have the C scale on top be the numerator, and the D scale on the bottom be the denominator.

Arduino Officially Launches the More Powerful Arduino UNO Q 4GB Single-Board Computer
Arduino has begun shipping the 4GB variant of its UNO Q development board, which packs a fully standalone-capable Linux-compatible system into the classic UNO microcontroller board footprint — recommending it over the original 2GB variant "if you intend to use Arduino UNO Q as a standalone SBC."
"We've already seen lots of amazing projects based on Arduino UNO Q come up since its launch in early October – but we’re doubling down anyway," the Arduino team writes of its latest release. "Today, we are launching a new Arduino UNO Q variant with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage, allowing all of you to dream bigger and go further, while still enjoying the same Arduino UNO Q form factor and ease of use."
