The comfy playful psychonautes
What I would like to see is a multi day event, at someone's house, where there is plenty of place to stay, good food, showers, good sound system, projection, nature around the place, like a like our mountains. Something conscious but not overly spiritual. Something fun, and more on the exploration than the healing.

Fossil Heating Installations are rapidly declining in Germany
This is even more remarkable when one considers that probably one key factor for the change of government in 2025 was a fierce campaign of misinformation and propaganda around the plan of the former Social Democrat / Green / Market Liberal government to phase out fossil heating, which was framed as "anti-democratic" and "ideological". Robert Habeck's ministry of economy had subsided changing installations of heat pumps, which was torpedoed to cater for the interests of the fossil industry (no, I can't think of any other reason, so I chose to describe it like that). This led to a booming demand of heat pump installations first, then to uncertainty and falling demand due to that FUD campaign [a].

Take My Hand: Chapter 32
He was cold, and alone.
He curled up tight, and tried to wedge himself into a corner.
He was cold, and alone.
He pulled a stone as long as his arm closer, and hugged it to his chest.
He was cold, and alone.

First prototype of my #diy #handheld #cyberdeck powered by a #RaspberryPi Zero. Unlike my previous tablet designs, this one is aimed at low power for extended battery life, focussing on command-line use. It will be used mainly for reading ebooks/websites, e-mail, SSH, note-taking and some coding fun. It could work well as a #writerdeck too. It has a 2000mAh battery under the keyboard providing 13 hours of continuous reading time. Next I need to design and print a cover for it. The low power use means that I could also look adding a flip cover with a solar panel integrated, to increase run time when I'm outdoors.

JeroenED @ Fosdem 2026
I have been a few times to fosdem already however it’s been a few years now. Last time was 2020. It was the year just only 6 weeks before corona hit Belgium and I know everyone was talking about "will it hit europe?" (Spoiler alert: it did!). Covid didn’t do good to most people, and struck me hard (mostly afterwards, tbh) but in 2026 I am a man on mission: fight off your demons (extra points if you get the "brand new" reference).
The thing with fighting off your demons is that you have to fight. "Hope only comes to the ones who deserve it" so sitting there is not the way to do it. When I got the plans to go, I also told a friend (who I know from the chess club) and never heard of it even though he is actually a dev with a github page and some projects. He eventually brought along his girlfriend who is a also dev.
The first day I wanted to only a few things: getting the official T-shirt or hoodie and see 2 talks, the opening talk and one on Microsoft Bob development wich took place on the end of day 1. Day 1 ended up being mostly seeing the stands, getting stickers, buying fan gear and drinking and eating. It was a nice day eventually (as the fifth wheel).

sdf-eu down on New Year's Eve
Due to Hetzner datacenter issues odin was down on New Year's Eve therefore my cronjobs were not run.
I had to run pharc by hand this morning using the -a 2025 arguments since pharc defaults to the current year.
