Matthew J. Garrett Has Just Sent a Threat to Put My Wife and I in Prison Because His Own Spouse Says He's a Rapist

Roy and Rianne

What really intimidates him is his own spouse and his own fate, so he is just projecting, as usual.

fuck all of this, Matthew Garrett is a rapist, kidnapper, and abuser

There is a history of him trying to put his own victims behind bars (and that's not even the worst part).

Yesterday I published the article "Brett Wilson LLP Seems to Have Done for Roberto Foa What It Did a Year Earlier for the Serial Strangler from Microsoft" and some hours ago Roberto Foa wrote to tell me about Free software, SRA, and the hired guns he had carelessly chosen. To quote:

Hi Roy

Just saw your piece.

We likely agree on a lot of things. Have been committed to the open source movement since teenage years and am a strong advocate for digital activism, free speech, and reform of the SRA.

That said, there's no malpractice by BW in my case. It's a clear case of institutional retaliation for speaking up after calling out things that were wrong. That will become clear once I'm allowed to discuss it openly - which for the time being, I have limited capacity to do.

Best,

I was not criticising Foa as much as the firm he had chosen, as it did the same things for an American strangler of women. It did the same to me. It's unethical and it is bad practice.

What he wrote was polite, but only 43 minutes later his hired guns sent 6 messages to me and to my wife. They basically threatened both of us with prison. They put "Matthew Garrett" in the subject line and added Microsoft links, as usual.

They expect a reply and try to convince us we'll go to prison - though to make assumptions like this one is to insinuate we live Hong Kong/China where reporting 'uncomfortable' or 'unpatriotic' facts puts you in prison [1, 2].

They want to silence us and censor us, that's all.

Like writing about how one got abused is against the law. They've abused us for over 2 years already. These hired guns also intentionally misnamed my wife. That's just part of the bullying, which we deem both sexist and racist (women at that firm are leaving).

They insinuate that instead of putting actual violent men in prison (people from the US, having picked opportunistic guns for hire in London) we should foster - right here in the UK! - an utterly absurd situation where those who belong in prison (and are based in the US) try to put people from another continent in prison, for merely publishing 'embarrassing' information like arrest for strangulation of women (whilst on Microsoft's payroll).

It's as ludicrous as it sound; they try to make noise about wanting to put in prison people who merely talk about those violent men (and in public they admit third parties help fund the litigation).

To be clear, my wife Rianne did not even write anything about this in 2026, so why send her threats? This is likely funded by the law firm, a firm overzealous for censorship, piggybacking the clients. They openly advertise they do "reputation management" (laundering) and hire from industries succeedingly and accordingly (PR), in effect trying to scare me and also my family. They do so in a desperate effort to stop me writing about what they did. Sorry, I don't live in Russia; neither do them.

The context and the timing matter here. They must be getting uncomfortable with their financial problems. The client goes quiet and must have gone ballistic lately because 1) his spouse publicly calls him a rapist (this is a 100% US issue which is escalating; he can be imprisoned like Graveley), 2) they come to grips with the fact I will write about what they did to my wife and I, and moreover cover this meticulous, patiently, always factually (I did 40 articles yesterday, mostly about the SRA's failure and about IBM), 3) they were told or are now told by the UK government that they will get not a penny (or a cent, remember they're always Americans) from us. Time is on our side, not theirs. We are already in contact with several politicians. More publicity is the last thing these hired guns want.
