Radicalism in Our Communities is Mostly Corporate, Not Grassroots

Projection tactics have become all too common in communities. The people who demand a CoC are those most likely to run afoul or breach those CoCs (but they strive to become the selective enforcers). For instance, in the Linux Foundation promoting fraud is perfectly OK, endorsing and collaborating with sex traffickers is also OK (underage sex, too). Just don't use words like "blacklist". Being intoxicated on the job is OK, and foul language is "just a joke".
Double standards beget normalisation of hypocrisy and, as Pocock dubbed it, Code of Conduct gaslighting. To quote: "Gaslighting is an insidious form of mental manipulation used to cause pain or exercise control over victims. Googlists and their followers in open source groups have stolen the Code of Conduct jargon from professional organizations and used it to assert an undeserved level of superiority over real volunteers."
In order to lessen corruption of communities at the hands of GAFAM et al we must all recognise their methods and explain those methods to other people. Then there can be effective resistance to efforts to crush grassroots. Infiltration and systematic destruction can be shallowly painted as "inducing manners". █
