Richard Stallman in the United States - Part II - "Haters Gonna Hate"
Published about slop, citing the RMS talk a month ago:

Some people wonder why we waited so long before doing the "Richard Stallman (RMS) in the United States" series (Part I). Prior to it we did another, shorter series.
The reasons are simple: 1) we heard that RMS may plan further talks in the US. 2) we wanted the latest talk to finish and be covered until exhaustion. 3) we allowed time for feedback on what we had published.
The RMS story isn't a unique one. In "average Joe" terms, it's a "haters gonna hate" scenario and there are many people who are jealous of RMS. Some of them dislike him because of his views on tech, not politics; he's critical of their company (or employer) but generalisations aside, they're not in the majority. It just bothers them that somebody so 'weird' can wield so much influence, and NOT via some large for-profit corporation/s; they wanted RMS to vanish - to 'prove' to them that this is un-doable, unsustainable etc. Some of these people mocked him (and ESR) upon cancer revelations. They are still mobbing him by spreading hate and signalling to him that he should go hide under some rock to avoid further hate. This has not worked; instead it served to show how evil and vicious they are. Having accomplished nothing on their own, they try to topple those who did. In some cases, the concessions they demand are a form of aggression and "appeasement only leads to more censorship / violence," as an associate puts it.
Seeing that RMS has not yet booked or announced his next talk, we shall carry on with this series at the right pace. █
