Freedom Means Accepting He or She Who is Different
George Carlin - It's A BIG Club & You Ain't In It!

"Freedom" in the US means (or gets jokingly pronounced) "free-dumb" when those who claim to champion freedom actively and ferociously fight against free speech, both domestically and overseas (abroad, overt overreach).
As T.J. Kirk put it last year, "Conservatives Hate Freedom" and so do some people who claim to be in the community while their salaries actually come from GAFAM - sponsors of Cheeto - to attack the community.
I've spent long enough time in this community (since I was a teenager) to easily spot the fakes. The charlatans, the liars, the narcissists. They're going lie to you straight to your face if that helps them get ahead. They'd even issue fake (self-serving) "apologies" if caught red-handed lying and defaming people. They show no true remorse and exhibit considerable hatred towards animals, humans (especially women), and anything that isn't them.
Freedom means accepting that who is different or thinks differently. Because it's a mutual social contract. How can one expect one's freedom of speech (or choice) to be honoured while refusing to honour others'?
As usual, with some exceptions, Americans don't truly grasp freedom and despite the imperial rhetoric (propaganda), democracy and freedom aren't championed in the US or exported by the US.
In the Debian community we're sadly seeing some authoritarian overreach this month [1, 2] and it is socially connected to the same people who attack my family and I, mostly by abuse of process. █
