Dr. Richard Stallman (RMS), the Man Whose Mind Scares GAFAM et al, Began Speaking in Switzerland
This morning: Dr. Richard Stallman Starts His Talks in Switzerland in 8 Hours
A few moments ago in Switzerland RMS started his first of several talks (at least three).
RMS is often attacked (discreditation attempts) by envious people - or career "attack dogs" - salaries by GAFAM et al - some of the very same people who try to "swat" and do all sorts of horrible and illegal things to my family.
Solidarity for RMS is a case of collective moral 'compassing'. He's not the monster that oligarchs-owned war-making companies and plutocrats-owned media tell the public that he is. They are afraid his ideas might spread or be popularised.
Even though we seldom speak to RMS we have good standing with RMS because we share many of the same ideals.
His ideas and ideals are not obscene. Most of them concern technology and he's usually right on the money (or lack of money; he focuses on ethics, not capital). There is an English term and also a concept for when you sort of break the barrier of silence - when some ideas become more widely acceptable/accepted. Or when fringe (or alleged 'lunacy') becomes common sense, not some outlandish view. Being the opposite of gatekeeping, Noam Chomsky used to speak about it in political contexts - he explained and articulated the underlying concepts. But Chomsky can hardly speak anymore. RMS can. And he does right now. █
