Reading between the lines and past the choreographed (and controlled in Microsoft-sponsored publishers) cruft, XBox the console is now dead. Instead, Microsoft will try to make PCs compatible with "old" games for XBox.
Remember when Microsoft killed all "Stores" and said it would be "online only"?
Well, Microsoft never likes to declare anything dead.
The Surface (a.k.a. "big-ass table") was repurposed as a brand to describe something completely different by reuse of words.
Now the same thing is happening with XBox, as the founder or father of XBox predicted last month.
As someone has just put it: "Okay, so the next Xbox is a PC then."
As an associate explains it, "the Xbox was only ever a test bed for DRM on commodity hardware, this has been known for decades. now the DRM has permeated the PC market so thoroughly that a separate line is no longer needed."
