Jeff Bezos as an Individual Said to Have Enough Capital to Buy IBM
A reader has said he "caught the article about IBM, mentioning they could be bought... my money is on Bezos, [as] aws uses redhat, and it would be a thorn in the side [of Microsoft]. price for it would be cheap for him to acquire."
Assuming a market capitalisation of 234.70 billion, Bezos (not Amazon) should be able to "afford it": "Approximately $239.4 billion (as of Dec 2025)" is the "net worth" of Bezos.
Meanwhile there is a discussion among people laid off by IBM. One person said: "As part of the separation process your manager is required to make a selection within the IBM application. Can't recall the statement, but it is something like 'recommended for rehire - Yes/No. So if you leave for poor performance or under a cloud then there is no way back."
